Engineered by Environment Canada for optimum protected surface area and aggressive oxygen transfer, Hydroxyl’s ActiveCell450TM Biofilm Carrier (media) is the core technology behind the Lotus process. Within a Lotus-ActiveCell reactor, each biofilm carrier operates in free floating motion while the basin is aerated and mixed.

Self-Regulating-Purging Biological Reactor
Submerged fixed film processes are self regulating eliminating the need to actively manage mixed liquor suspended solids (MLSS), waste activated sludge (WAS), return activated sludge (RAS) and food to mass (F/M) ratios. As a result, maintenance requirements are minimal.

Nitrogen Conversion and Reduction
Lotus-ActiveCell can be designed to effectively reduce ammonia-N, nitrate-N and total nitrogen concentrations.
