Product Description

UV Disinfection systems are designed to destroy 99.9% of all organisms left in the waste stream after secondary or tertiary biological treatment. As water flows through the UV unit(s), electromagnetic energy is transmitted into the waste stream and penetrates the outer membranes of organisms. This process impairs DNA functionality, effectively killing the microbiology in the wastewater.

UV has several advantages over chlorine disinfection. It eliminates the need to transport dangerous chemicals, perform complex operations and dechlorinate the waste stream. The only maintenance required for UV disinfection is the periodical cleaning of the quartz sleeves (protective material over the lamps) and replacing the lamps every 8,500 hours (annually).
